What is a Parenting Finance MOT?
Life evolves and so should your financial plans. Having children is a big life change and the perfect time to ensure your finances support your growing family's needs.
Our Financial MOT for Parents is perfect for busy parents who want clear, practical guidance on how to improve their finances. We review your current situation, including savings, protection and more, and offer personalised suggestions to help.
From our very first session, you'll start to uncover opportunities in your finances and see how small changes can lead to significant improvements.
With so much on your plate, it’s tough to find the time or mental energy for financial planning. That’s where Ed comes in. As a financial expert, he’ll ask the right questions to understand your personal circumstances and guide you to practical solutions tailored to your family’s needs.
Let Ed provide clear, expert guidance so you can focus on what matters most.
How does the MOT work?
Ed will look at your current financial circumstances including things like budgeting, savings and protection and make expert suggestions for where you could make improvements.
There are 4 stages to our Finance MOT
1
Pre-Session Questionnaire
To kick things off, you’ll complete a questionnaire about your current finances.
This helps us understand where you are now and ensures our sessions are tailored specifically to your needs, so we can focus on what’s most important to you and make the best use of our time together.
2
Session with Ed: Identifying Opportunities and Prioritising Actions
In our first session, Ed will spend some time getting to know your specific wants and needs for your family. This is a great opportunity to really understand what matters most to you.
You'll then review your pre-session questionnaire together and uncover areas where you have opportunities to make improvements.
You’ll then work together to prioritise the actions that will have the most positive impact, giving you clear, actionable steps to move forward with confidence.
3
Taking Action!
After the first session, you’ll receive a structured plan outlining the actions you decided to take and when.
Ed will be on email between sessions to support you with any questions if you need.
4
Session with Ed: Follow up and Next Steps
This is where our MOT can really make a difference.
It's completely normal to start on an action plan and then hit blocks, change your mind or have further questions which can be hard to answer yourself.

Our follow-up session allows you to talk to Ed again, discuss how things have been going and address any questions or concerns that have come up.
You'll make any adjustments to you plan together and outline any next steps. This session helps maintain momentum and keep you on track.
Our personalised approach is different to the online MOTs out there.
In the two 1-2-1 sessions, Ed takes the time to understand your family’s unique needs and goals.
He’ll ask the right questions to get to the heart of what you’re looking for (even if you’re not sure yourself) and provide tailored guidance that online tools simply can’t offer.
